What does it mean to you to be awarded a GoGirl grant?
Given the honor of receiving a Go Girl grant, has enabled me to grow again. Before I was awarded the grant, I had reached the period in my life of fall, where the limbs of my being were bare and I felt there was no more beauty. Life had come to a standstill, doing the same thing day in and day out; after all, I was almost 50 and that is ½ of really old. Well I am still ½ of really old but loving what I am doing: attending college to earn a MA in psychology. Without the Girlfriend Factor, none of this would be possible.
Describe your motivation and inspiration for continuing your education and career goals at this stage in your life.
My motivation for continuing my education, is simple: I have a need to help children who are confused, who have lost confidence in themselves and in the world around them. I know I cannot save every child, but I am going to try my hardest. I have a lot of life yet to live, and I could not think of a better way to live it. I want to give back what was so gracefully given to me, and that is opportunity.
What advice would you offer other women who are considering going back to school to make a career change?
My advice to all women who are considering going back to school is don't give up and don't give in. Keep running until you have reached your goal, and know that it is not the end when you have reached it. Yours is a new beginning. "You Go Girl."
