The recipients of our Go Girl! Grants are real women with real dreams and goals and stories to tell. We are proud to introduce them to you and will keep you informed as to their progress. We want our Donors to understand where their money is going, and the impact it is making. Together we will make a huge difference in these women’s lives. And they, in turn, will have a profound affect on ours.
Bobbette Boschert - Presently a full time student at College of the Desert, Bobbie is studying to become a nurse. She is in the LVN program. A single mother of one daughter, she enjoys sharing her free time with the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, the American Heart Association Heart Walk, Aids Project fund raisers, and the Department of Domestic & Sexual Assault Victims of Coachella Valley. Bobbie's long term goal is to specialize in forensics and to assist victims of rape. Read More
Roxanne Cerrasco - A resident of Palm Desert, Ca, Roxanne returned to school to pursue her dream of obtaining her nursing degree. She is currently enrolled in the nursing program at Indiana State University, matriculating toward her BA degree in nursing. Roxanne is a divorced mother of two sons. She has been employed for six years at Enchanted Nursing as a certified nurse assistant. Roxanne realizes that the only way to break the cycle of poverty is, "to work hard and set high standards for myself and my sons". Read More
Cheryl Childers - A native of Illinois, Cheryl Childers has lived in La Quinta, CA since 1992. She has a twin sister and a younger brother.
Cheryl attended Kent State University, but left college early before earning her degree. She has worked in office management in law firms, a public relations agency, at an escrow company, and for a hotel.
It is Cheryl's plan to obtain her BA in education so that she can pursue her goal to teach or counsel students. She and her son are both enrolled in College of the Desert in Palm Desert, CA.

Diana Childers - Currently enrolled at Cal State, majoring in graphic design, Diane Childers returned to school to pursue her dream of owning a graphics arts business. She completed her course studies at College of the Desert.
Childers is divorced and the mother of a son. In her spare time, she participates in all art activities on campus as well as in local area art shows. She credits her return to school as a monumental life decision.

Donna De Silva - A resident of Calimesa, CA, Donna De Silva will soon receive her AA degree in Nursing from College of the Desert. She plans to obtain her Master's degree in Nursing so that she can teach Nursing courses in the future. A former truck driver, Donna is excited and motivated to be pursuing her degree in a new field. Jennifer Stebbins - A resident of Cathedral City, Jennifer has returned to school to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher. She is in her second year of liberal studies at College of the Desert. After receiving her Associates Degree, she will transfer to CAL State to work on her teaching credential. Jennifer is a divorced mother of two elementary school sons. She volunteers at her children's schools and created a girlfriends book club. Jennifer's book club participates in local charity events, i.e. Women Running Wild and 6K Tram Road Challenge. Read More
Anna Reed - Pursing a career in retail management is the goal of Anna Reed. A resident of Thousand Palms, CA, she has returned to school, working towards an AA in Business Management in her first year at College of the Desert. Upon achieving that, Anna plans to transfer to Cal State to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Business. Read More
Patty Rollinson - A former chef and mother of four sons, Patty Rollinson has returned to school to pursue another degree, this one in psychology. She is enrolled at College of the Desert currently, and will transfer to Cal State to pursue her major. Read More
Lucilla Fernandez Ruelas - Earning a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Cal State is the education goal of Lucy Ruelas. Her business goal is to expand her business, Trinity Bookkeeping Services. Ultimately, she wants to establish a children's non-profit learning center. Inspired by her father to pursue higher education no matter what her age, Lucy worked in the fields with her parents before becoming a dispatcher for 18 years. At the age of 30, she embarked on her quest for a different life. She earned her AA in accounting from College of the Desert in 2007. Education is the top priority from Lucy and her husband. Shondra Toy - The first in her family to achieve any type of college degree, Shondra earned her AA degree from College of the Desert in the Spring of 2007. This Palm Desert, CA resident currently attends Cal State, pursuing a Bachelor's Degree as she aspires to be a special ed teacher. A single mother of 2 daughters, she currently works at the McCarthy Child Development Center. Read More
